This customer deals with inconsistent and often very low flows. In the winter this leads to fast temperature drops in their influent equalization basin. When that cold water hits the aeration basin, it can make wintertime nitrification a challenge. To combat this they took two steps.
First, in the fall they added plastic hexagons to the EQ, creating a barrier between the relatively slow-moving water, and the cold air. Next, when cold temperatures did hit they added Vitastim Dynamic Duo proactively. The combination lead to their most successful ammonia removal year ever.
