Quats and others similar product:
is it possible that quats (cationic charge) can react with orthophosphate (like coagulant – Al ou Fe product), and
1-reduce the concentration of o-PO4 available for biomass?
2-act like EDTA (i.e. maintain phosphate in solution/soluble state) and passes through an ultra filtration membrane??
Hi Erik,
We don’t think that Quat will prevent phosphorus suspension or bind to phosphate. Quats are reactive with cells due to polar/nonpolar interactions. Phosphate wouldn’t behave similarly to a cell membrane as it is a soluble ion.
