At Aquafix, our eagerness for fixing every problem in the wide world of wastewater means we encounter some of the strangest situations water can offer. In this new series, Unique Applications, we look at some of our most stand out issues and most inventive solutions.

Foaming Issues before

Surfactants: known to consumers as soaps, shampoos, and the like, but known to wastewater operators as a hassle. This Illinois industrial plant manufactures surfactant and emulsion chemistry, which are chemically-designed to not break down. Additionally, their plant receives variable loadings, making it either feast or famine while the operators try to stay within limits. The plant sent in samples of the mixed liquor and influent and asked for our help through a treatability study. We designed a treatment for them using Qwik-Zyme L and VitaStim Grease for high loading periods and VitaStim Rebuild for low loading periods. With this, their plant has been running smoothly for two years.
